10 Unbelievable Wrestling Coincidences
9. An Easy Mistake To Make
Mike Adamle was bantered off the face of the earth when he got Jeff Hardy's name wrong on his very first appearance as an interviewer for WWE.
His cards were marked instantly, and it was unfair. He corrected himself immediately - as in, a split-second later - so it wasn't as if he didn't think enough of his new employer to do his research. He took it seriously; he was just nervous and made a mistake, as virtually everybody has on their first day at a new workplace. Some people get a name wrong. Others give away the title result of a taped WCPW show that hadn't been uploaded to YouTube yet.
True, Adamle made several more, and became a meme as a result - before people were kinder to him years later. In a sad prologue, it was eventually discovered that Adamle had been diagnosed with CTE-induced dementia. The thing is, he didn't actually make a mistake...sort of.
The man's name is Jeff Harvey - or at least it was when made one of several, sporadic appearances as an enhancement talent before making it big.
So what explains this amazing coincidence?
Did Jeff want to work under that name because he thought his shoot age might be traced back to his real surname? As his brother Matt recalled on WWE Then & Now, Jeff pretended he was 16, not 18, to "legally" get the gig.
Or did the production staffer tasked with creating the graphic make the exact same mistake as Adamle?
