Hemme, the winner of the first ever Diva Search competition in 2004, was a welcomed addition to the women's division. She was charismatic, enthusiastic and seemed to have a genuine passion and respect for the business. Hemme, who was paid $250,000 for the year that she was in the WWE, drawing resentment from some of her peers, faced Trish Stratus for the Women's Championship at WrestleMania XXI after just a few months in the business. WWE seemed to have big plans for Hemme, who was rapidly improving as a worker and all-round performer before she was unceremoniously released on December 5th, 2005 while she was training in Ohio Valley Wrestling. Christy really wanted to improve as a wrestler and was seemingly well liked backstage so the release came as a shock to most. The company cited budget cuts as well as the creative team having nothing for her, which always screams of a cop-out. Rumours circulated online that Hemme was acting 'inappropriately' with a (married) top star on a tour and management disapproved. No justifiable explanation has been given but Christy elaborated in a blog on TNA's website in 2008, saying that she:
"stuck to my guns on my morals and values as a human being. I knew in my gut that it would be the end, but I also knew that carrying guilt for knowingly doing something against what I believed wasn't worth getting ahead. Leaving broke my heart... but doing the right thing is something I will always be proud of."
Hemme now works for TNA as a member of the creative team.
