10 Underrated Movies Starring Wrestlers

3. Jushin Thunder Liger: Fists Of Thunder

Jushin 'Thunder' Liger, widely regarded as one of the best light heavyweights of all time, is based on a popular Japanese anime. It's not surprising, then, that the famous wrestler got his own ridiculous movie.

Fists of Thunder sees a fictionalised version of Liger struggling to come to terms with the demonic forces that haunted him as a child. Things get even worse when he is forced to compete in a match against a wrestler... with demonic powers!

What are the chances?

The film went to extreme lengths to keep Liger's identity secret, having a different actor play him when he was unmasked. There's also a cameo from former New Japan and Zero 1 wrestler Shinjiro Otami to keep wrestling fans happy.

Much like Roaring Fire, this movie is ludicrous Japanese fighting at its very best. At one point, Liger and his enemy turn into giant beast versions of themselves and do battle in a car park, kaiju style. How can you not love that?

It's a great film to have on in the background or to watch with a big group of friends. Just don't show it to someone who doesn't know anything about wrestling. They will never recover.
