10 Underrated WCW Entrance Themes
2. Hollywood Hulk Hogan 'Voodoo Child'
Yes, this is an actual Jimi Hendrix song. And yes, I'm putting it on the list!
So, full disclosure from the outset - when I first heard Hollywood Hogan use this song as WCW World Heavyweight Champion in a Nitro main event, it was the first time I'd ever even heard it. I know, shameful. But what I did know...was that this theme rocked!
Hogan strutting out of that entrance way, holding the Big Gold Belt, and strumming it like a Fender Strat to 'Voodoo Child' was spot on. I'm actually giving WCW extra points for using 'real' music too. Like a UFC or boxing event, using a tune like this only added to the 'big match' feel of WCW. While admittedly it wasn't their creation, it added legitimacy, and felt like a statement of power and confidence from the Atlantic based company, and by extension, a statement of power from the tyrannical Hollywood Hogan, Eric Bischoff, and the nWo.
Obviously the WWE wasn't going to use this for Hogan when he returned in the 2000s, hence why I'm marking it down as an underrated pick.
