7. The Smoking Gunns - WWE Tag Team Champions (1995-6)
To say that the tag team division in World Wrestling Entertainment during the mid-1990s was awful would be an understatement. In fact, with teams such as Men on a Mission, the Blu Twins, the Bodydonnas, the Headshrinkers, the New Rockers and the Godwinns starring in the division throughout a three-year period, it was pretty pathetic. That is not so much an indictment of the men involved in those teams but, instead, of a booking committee that had completely lost sight of its audience and the direction the industry was heading. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvN4XPDX6ow While the company was plagued by poor tag team wrestling, there was one duo that held down the proverbial fort, the team that management could build around. Billy and Bart Gunn were both incredibly effective babyfaces and equally unlikable heels. They performed like a well-oiled machine and could work with teams of any size and style. Management trusted the duo and it led to them becoming one of the most decorated and visible teams of that era. Of course, Billy would go onto even more success as one-half of the New Age Outlaws while Bart would become the butt of many jokes following a seconds-long Brawl For All contest against Butterbean at WrestleMaia XV in which he was unceremoniously knocked out.
