10 Underrated WWE Superstars Who Shouldn’t Have Been Released
6. Ken Kennedy
Ken Kennedy was poised to become a top star in WWE. He had everything that Vince wanted: the look, height, wrestling ability, speaking ability, workable gimmick, and charisma. He defeated all of SmackDowns stars one by one, culminating in a feud with the Undertaker that helped him build his credibility. He was even rumored to be the planned illegitimate child of Vince McMahon, but unfortunately, injuries and other circumstances changed everything. After winning the 2007 Money in the Bank briefcase, he lost it to Edge after he suffered what was later discovered to have been a massive hematoma. Soon afterwards, he was suspended for a Wellness Policy violation. After a series of mid-card feuds, he was drafted to SmackDown and then injured his shoulder. Upon recovery, he returned to RAW on May 25th, 2009. This is where things get controversial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ulob_LR-kIs It has been alleged that Kennedy dropped Randy on his bad shoulder, and Randys reaction during that match was him getting mad at Kennedy. After the match, it has been said that Randy blew a gasket, calling Kennedy unsafe, which subsequently led to him being released a few days later. The official WWE reason was something involving a hand injury, but Kennedy uploaded a video of himself days later with his hand moving fine. This was a disappointing release for WWE. Kennedy had all the tools needed to become a top WWE star, and they had invested so much in him. He was released because one of their other top guys complained too much to the right person, and that led to Kennedy getting his walking papers. Mistakes happen in WWE all the time. Sure, Kennedy shouldnt have dropped Randy on his bad shoulder, but that doesnt warrant getting the guy fired. After all, he wouldve been a fresh face in the WWE Championship picture at the time anyway.
