10. Tatanka
Tatanka reappeared in WWE in August 2005 in a short match with Eugene on Raw. Tatanka, who hadn't been seen in WWE since his release in 1996, became a full time performer in December and began touring the house show circuit. He was a surprise entrant in the 2006 Royal Rumble, where he was eliminated by MNM. Tatanka wrestled mainly on Velocity for the next month until he was announced as Matt Hardy's tag team partner in his championship match with MNM at the No Way Out pay-per-view. It was pretty much the definition of an anti-climax. Fans, who were expecting someone more exciting after weeks of hype, were deflated. Tatanka looked passable in the ring but didn't move as quickly as he had during the Cartoon Era. Tatanka, who had enjoyed a prolonged winning streak in the early 1990's, embarked on a losing streak later in the year. He mainly spent time battling the likes of Sylvain Grenier, Simon Dean and The Miz (who wrestled Tatanka in his first WWE match) before asking for his release in January 2007. He ended his losing streak in his final match with the company, beating the similarly anachronistic Jimmy Wang Yang. The mid-2000's Tatanka comeback was weird and unexpected. Although he didn't have many big pay-per-view matches or storylines, he was featured heavily on television and was a prominent fixture on house shows. WWE even somewhat acknowledged the comeback by referring to it as 'courageous and unlikely' when announcing his release. Tatanka continues to make sporadic appearances on the independent circuit.
