10 Upcoming Wrestling Stories That Are Already Doomed

8. The Brock Lesnar Return

The Rock Cody Rhodes
WWE

If wrestling were governed morally, Brock Lesnar's implication in Janel Grant's ongoing lawsuit against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE would rule him out of ever appearing for the market leaders again. This may yet be the case, but WWE has rarely been known for its scruples. If the promotion believes it can get away with using somebody, and if it thinks it can make money with that person, it will.

The WWE PR playbook is to wait until a point where it believes the potential backlash has subsided substantially (see: Hogan, Hulk post-racism allegations) before making its move. And the sad reality of it is, thousands - maybe millions - would be forgiving of Lesnar the moment he appeared on screen. If the controversies ever mattered to those of less discerning dispositions in the first place, they soon wouldn't.

It's a miserable, depressing indictment, but reflective of the current situation. If the backlash is limited to Twitter or Reddit discourse, WWE, TKO Group, and Endeavor as a whole simply won't care.

Dana White slapped his wife, publically, in 2022. His position as UFC CEO and president has never been in doubt.
