10 Ups & 0 Downs From AEW Dynamite (April 14)
1. The Young Bucks Out-D*ckhead PAC & Fenix
As it often does, AEW Dynamite opened on its strongest match, as The Young Bucks and Death Triangle's PAC and Rey Fenix hit a high level in a bout driven by character work and state-of-the-art action.
The buzz going around social media before the show was that this was one of the best matches in Dynamite history. Taped last week, it at least came close to reaching those standards, as the Bucks played snotty, obnoxious little punks against Fenix and PAC, who kept it straight.
Fenix was his usual incandescent self, bursting into life following the match's slower periods, working difficult, mind-bending spots at a clip that shouldn't be humanly possible. PAC, meanwhile, was a clobberer, though his babyface role meant opening up his high-flying repertoire more than we typically expect from his Bastard character, showing his adaptability.
Matt Jackson mocking his own melodrama for a deliberately long length of time was a great, trolling response to the previous week's criticism. He and Nick were total sh*theads en route to a victory that came when Nick snatched Fenix's mask off his face. Stunned, Rey covered up, eating a dual Superkick for the loss.
Great to see the Bucks working full heel after months of flip-flopping.
