10 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynamite (Apr 29)

3. Call Your Grandmother

Jon Moxley
AEW

Want to make it through self-isolation in the best possible way? Listen to Jon Moxley's advice. Be a good neighbour, support local businesses by ordering takeout, and phone your goddamn grandmother, alright? Good.

Last night's segment combined all that defines Jon Moxley's character. The above provided the comedy, his comments on the Jake Hager match brought the bad*ssery ("a DDT on a steel chair is always better than a DDT not on a chair, guess they didn't teach you that in University of Oklahoma wrestling class, b*tch"), and his leadership attributes came through as he addressed the difficult situation pro-wrestling currently finds itself in. He feels like himself, not a cartoon character or dopy latter-day Dean Ambrose.

We're getting Moxley back in the building next week, with the AEW World Champion teasing that we may discover his Double Or Nothing opponent. AEW isn't giving themselves much time to build a great programme ahead of the 23 May pay-per-view but they built Hager into a convincing challenger in remarkably quick time, so who knows? Perhaps they have an ace up their sleeve.
