10 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Revolution

1. Statlander & Rose Struggle In A Tight Spot

A brief list of things that Kris Statlander and Nyla Rose had going against them last night:-

1. They had to follow the Tag Team Championship match. Any bout put in that spot was going to struggle for crowd reactions.

2. The lack of build.

3. The debilitating flu that forced Statlander to pull out of an indie date earlier this week and clearly hindered her work last night.

It's because of the above and the high effort levels that we won't go too hard on this bout. Statlander and Rose worked hard to try and win the crowd over after the blitzkrieg tag encounter and had pockets of the arena behind them by the end, but only pockets. This didn't connect. A shame, as better circumstances would've led to a better response, though the work had its flaws too. A sloppy undercurrent undermined many a big sequence here.

Nyla retained the AEW Women's World Championship, as she should have. A long reign is on the cards for 'The Native Beast.' Her and Statlander definitely have a better match in them and will likely deliver it later down the line, but this one fell short - and it isn't entirely their fault.
