In the long run, Eddie Edwards winning the Call Your Shot Gauntlet Battle Royal may not be that bad of a thing. He's not been properly involved in the title picture of any championship for a good chunk of time, so this is a great way to insert him back in.

However, what about the whole Ace Austin/Alisha Edwards love triangle story?

With Eddie coming out victorious here and earning a future championship match in the process, it feels as if he's completely stepped aside from the whole story, essentially opening the gates for Ace to woo Alisha even further. While you could argue that the title opportunity could be cashed in against Ace seeing as he's the new X Division Champion, the win still could've and should've gone to someone who didn't have anything else going for them right now.
