10 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Oct 28)

1. What Is This Build?

FTR The Young Bucks
AEW

The wonky build towards The Young Bucks vs. FTR continued last night, as any sympathy generated by last week's Pillmanisation of Matt Jackson's ankle was washed away in a sitdown interview segment.

FTR ended up walking out when Excalibur asked the Bucks two consecutive questions, despite a strong first answer from Dax Harwood. This left the Bucks to carry the burden, as they insulted Excalibur, claimed they didn't like what they'd become while rediscovering their killer instinct, and revealed the bout's stipulation. If they lose, the Bucks may never challenge for the gold again.

Matt Jackson gave off nervous energy throughout, never sounding sure of him as he spoke. The stipulation, meanwhile, adds stakes to a match that doesn't feel as exciting as it should after spending so many years waiting for it to happen, but it's a direct retread of the Cody/Chris Jericho situation from last year. It either forecasts the outcome or we end up with an identical storyline involving former Elite members, neither of which is a good look.
