10 Ups & 3 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Sep 15)

1. Main Event Level

If you're someone who doesn't think Rich Swann should be in the main event of Impact's biggest pay-per-view of the year, then you are sadly mistaken.

Swann ventured down to ringside in the middle of this week's show, still hobbling on crutches, before inviting Scott D'Amore to join him for a chat. What came next was the former X Division Champion pleading his case for a World Championship opportunity against Eric Young at Bound For Glory, letting out every inch of emotion he possibly could, directly from the heart. He stated this is all he had left, and if D'Amore couldn't give him the chance, then he may as well be taken behind the barn like an old, withered animal. That was the key moment from the segment - it showed the viewer exactly how much Swann wants this.

When Eric Young made his presence felt, though, that's when things changed, as 'The World Class Maniac' shoved the boss to the ground. A brief brawl ensued, with Swann - on one leg, keep in mind - getting the better of the World Champion. From there, the match was signed for Bound For Glory on 24 October, giving Swann just over a month to rehabilitate his leg for the biggest opportunity of his career.

This article entry can't really do the segment justice, as it's impossible to fully convey the emotion Swann was showing here. Regardless of if it ends decisively or through nefarious means, that Bound For Glory main event will be remembered for a long time to come.
