10 Ups & 3 Downs From This Week's Impact Wrestling (Aug 9)

1. What Happened To This?

Remember the MashUp Tournament from a few weeks ago? Remember how the winners of that would go on to face each other to decide the next contender for Brian Cage's World Championship? That sort of thing seems important to broadcast, especially since the match in question was Sami Callihan vs. Tessa Blanchard, but clearly it didn't matter much to Impact.

Apparently, Unbreakable - the event where the number one contender's match occurred - was an Impact Plus special, meaning you couldn't see it unless you've got the app. There's nothing wrong with that whatsoever - not everything can just be broadcast for free. However, if you're going to put on a tournament on television and then air what was technically the finals on a different service, it doesn't all blend together.

Those who didn't see the event due to this will now know that Sami Callihan was victorious there, and will now go on to challenge Brian Cage at a later date (given the time though, it's likely happening at Bound For Glory). Despite that, his rivalry with Tessa doesn't appear to be over quite yet. Maybe she'll find a way to get herself inserted into the title match.

We can hope, right?
