10 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Jan 22)
4. In Which Judas Murders Marko
The thudding Judas Effect with which Chris Jericho put Marko Stunt away may have sent the diminutive flyer to the shadow realm on another night, though it was still enough to end the successful Inner Circle vs. Jurassic Express trios match on the right note.
This bout succeeded by further two sub-stories, with Jake Hager vs. Luchasaurus pushed forward as 'The Big Hurt' struck the big man and lured him away from the ring prior to the finish, and the existing Jericho/Jungle Boy relationship continued through their interactions. The duo started the match and again, 'The Alpha' got overconfident, with the younger, more athletic star getting the better of him, prompting Jericho to scamper away for a tag. Good stuff.
Jungle Boy was a tremendous face-in-peril here, absorbing the Inner Circle's heat segment with such aptitude that you'd think he'd been locked in a room with nothing but Ricky Morton tapes all month. Luchasaurus, meanwhile, looked great in a typically thunderous hot tag, and now has a move called the Shining Lizard, for f*ck's sake.
Jericho pinning Stunt was both the most believable and correct outcome. Next week, he faces another former foe in another trios match, as Darby Allin and Private Party go against 'Le Champion,' Ortiz, and Santana.
