10 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Jun 10)

3. MJF: Demoted?

Are we in the midst of an MJF demotion? It certainly feels that way, though the bookers have earned enough trust for the "let it play out" stance.

Nonetheless, MJF's next opponent is veteran comedy wrestler Billy Gunn. Yes, Billy Gunn. This came about when 'The Salt of the Earth' interrupted Gunn Club's promo time, calling AEW's decision to give Jungle Boy a TNT Championship shot over him "egregious favouritism" and himself a "great white shark in a sea of minnows." Billy interjected and threatened to get shirty, before MJF summoned Wardlow over to diffuse the situation.

The match goes down next week and while it'll probably fine, it's not the kind of situation MJF should be in at the moment. Billy is a novelty wrestler. If MJF had to wrestle a Gunn Club member, it could have at least been Austin, who might benefit from being in the ring with AEW's biggest heat magnet. Instead, we're getting fluff.
