10 Ups & 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (May 21)

2. Oh, Great. This Guy.

Kofi Kingston Dolph Ziggler

Sigh.

Perhaps Dolph Ziggler's assault on Kofi Kingston would have come off stronger if he wasn't Dolph bloody Ziggler, but he is. The guy's still staler than week-old bread despite his four-month absence from television, and after years and years of being booked like a loser, your writer found it impossible to give a d*mn about 'The Show-Off's' reintroduction.

Dolph made his presence felt after Kofi had defeated Sami Zayn. He made the most of Paul Heyman's teased cash-in, ambushing the WWE Champion before battering him around the ring, then destroying his neck with a steel chair. Kingston was done. It was a stretcher job, but Kofi, the fighter that he is, rejected medical assistance, opting to head to the back of his own volition instead.

The former internet darling outlived his use as a pushable commodity years ago. His performance abilities haven't waned, but expecting a wide audience to invest in Ziggler is nuts. You can't spend the best part of a decade undermining a guy then bring him back as a hot-shotted main eventer.
