10 Ups & 6 Downs For WWE In 2023 (So Far)

7. Puerto Rico’s Insane Live Crowd

Let's pause to applaud that live crowd in San Juan for Backlash.

Approx 17-18,000 people roared themselves hoarse in Puerto Rico for a card full of quite excellent wrestling. Here, WWE exhibited the value of taking pay-per-views international. San Juan got a thrill out of hosting, and peeps in the stands went wild for pretty much everything put in front of them.

Countryman Bad Bunny beating Damian Priest in a ridiculously-fun 'Street Fight' was just the tip of this iceberg. The whole night was some laugh, and there's no doubt the rowdy live crowd heightened the experience for those watching from home. What a crowd, man. What. A. Crowd.

Backlash (and WrestleMania Backlash) used to be a bit of a forgettable evening on the calendar. If WWE fancies heading back to Puerto Rico next year for it, then no-one would be mad. That was one of the best audiences they've ever produced a show in front of.
