10 Ups & 8 Downs From AEW Fight For The Fallen

Ups...

10. An Improved Buy In

While Fight For The Fallen's Buy In pre-show certainly wasn't can't-miss viewing, it did feel like AEW had acted upon the critical feedback thrown their way following Double Or Nothing and Fyter Fest's lacklustre appetisers.

Previous Buy Ins did nothing to build anticipation for the main card, but this one at least aspired to. Promos from Dustin and Cody Rhodes and 'Superbad' Kip Sabian hyped two of the evening's biggest matches. As simple as they were, such things were sorely lacking on the previous shows. The lack of ineffective comedy represented another step forward as 'The Librarian' gimmick was minimised and nothing was played for laughs, a few spots aside, resulting in the first Buy In to truly feel like a serious wrestling presentation.

Quality is subjective and the women's trios match didn't quite hit the mark, but FFTF's pre-show was a step in the right direction. Here's to continued progression.
