Maybe WrestleMania was running short on time and they needed to shave a few minutes off the card. Maybe Rey Mysterio’s ankle injury was more serious that we thought.

Regardless, Samoa Joe obliterated Mysterio in mere seconds, defending his United States Championship. Rey came out hot, but a diving wheelbarrow attempt was quickly countered into the Coquina Clutch, and Mysterio passed out.

Joe can be a dominant force when booked properly, so seeing this was a welcome sight. Rey losing like that was a shame, but he’s one of those guys who can lose like that occasionally and not lose his luster.

Let’s see if this is leading somewhere or just was a one-off squash.
