10 Veterans Who Would Be Ideal Role Models For Younger Wrestlers
1. Yuji Nagata (Versatility)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5SaE5uOD_ASome WWE Superstars are often described as ‘one-dimensional’, meaning that they can only fit into certain roles and can’t really do anything else. Randy Orton is best at being a heel, Daniel Bryan is best at submissions, and Bray Wyatt is good at doing his upside-down Exorcist walk, or whatever you want to call it.
So if there was ever one person who could teach younger wrestlers on how to be versatile and fit into any role, it would be NJPW mainstay, Yuji Nagata.
Yuji Nagata can best be described as ‘Jack of All Trades, and Ace of them too’. He is Mr. Versatile, and can do whatever he needs to do perfectly. He can be a good guy or a bad guy. He can put on a clinic in technical wrestling or brawl with the hardest-hitting members of the NJPW roster. He can be as serious as Lance Storm, or as comic as Santino Marella. Whatever the role, Nagata is the one who can do it all.
This is a priceless trait because it allows him to work well with virtually anyone. He has main event experience, which also adds importance to any match he’s involved in. Virtually anyone and everyone would benefit from working with Nagata.
Being able to be so versatile is what made Nagata such an important figure in NJPW, as he was the one who had to carry the company during its darkest period during the early-to-mid-2000s. If he could do that and still be able to perform in any role today, then he is certainly someone that younger wrestlers should observe.
