All Elite Wrestling has proven that in 2020, the traditional baby-face booking strategy doesn’t have to be thrown out with the bathwater.

By taking full advantage of the star power they already possessed through the company’s early signings, AEW was able to bring legitimacy to their newly formed championships.

Through the use of Chris Jericho, John Moxley and Cody Rhodes, AEW President and CEO Tony Khan and the cast of Dynamite were able to swiftly build strong divisions behind each title belt.

This leverage wasn’t then allowed to go to waste. Best exemplified by the year-long story between Cody Rhodes and Darby Allen, AEW has broken into the business to change it while moving the industry away from PPV-driven story lines to a more character-centric product.

We’re already seeing the second wave of stars being brought up: future legends like Hangman Page, MJF, Orange Cassidy, Ricky Starks and Sammy Guevara are already major players in their respective stories.

AEW doesn’t stop there as we see the third wave being seeded at the same time with teams like The Acclaimed and Top Flight being highlighted and groomed to do the exact same as their predecessors.
