10 Ways To Make The WWE Product More Like Sports

2. Add A World Cup

Kofi Kingston What really engages sports fans is when they have something to get behind. There's a tribalistic instinct to support sports competitors defined by nationality. Take a look at the popularity and profitability of the FIFA World Cup, fans from around the world get excited about the contest. The fact that 2014 is a World Cup year would be great timing for WWE to introduce a similar kind of tournament. They already have a range of nationalities on the roster (American, Canadian, Mexican, Swiss, Irish, English, Indian and more), any major nations they lack could see them bring in performers for a part time run. They could make it a really big deal by hyping the matches and featuring them as the biggest part of WWE's summer programming. It would be a nice new addition to the usual WWE offerings, fitting in with the football world cup and also appealing to the Networks who expect to be getting a sport brand. Granted TNA have done a World Cup before, but this is WWE, it'll be a million times better than the lower leagues.
