10 Ways The Move To TV Has Ruined WWE NXT
3. Higher Expectations
We sort of delved into this one earlier on as it pertained to some TakeOver events feeling less special and/or important, and the same thing can apply to the weekly shows too.
One week, you can see four of NXT's greatest compete in a 60 minute Iron Man Match for the NXT Championship, or you can be witness to the inaugural Fight Pit. But other weeks, the biggest highlight might come in the form of a Dexter Lumis painting. In simpler terms, the weekly shows now have more to live up to in the expectations of fans' minds.
Not every week can be a banger. Granted, even when NXT was at one hour, this was the case sometimes, but it was far easier to meet these expectations on the one hour shows because they were shorter and snappier. You'd think the addition of an extra 60 minutes would make the two hour editions more superior as it pertained to this thought, but it simply isn't so.
In order for NXT to capitalise on the two hours, they need to either make each week have at least one match or segment that's remembered months down the line, or save these bigger moments for TakeOver.
They can't have both.
