4. Build A Strong Supporting Cast

WWE's roster might be stacked with more world-class in-ring talents than ever before at the moment, but SmackDown's main event scene is extremely thin. It's Jinder Mahal and Shinsuke Nakamura, and that's it. There hasn't been anything going on outside the main title program for most of the year, and with Survivor Series on the horizon and the Champion's focus elsewhere, we can expect this to continue.

Titles always feel more prestigious with multiple contenders vying for them at any given time. The WWE Championship is supposed to be SmackDown's top prize, but it certainly doesn't feel that way at the moment, and that's partly down to WWE's singular focus.

The company shouldn't poison the title scene with a series of listless multi-person feuds, but becoming WWE Champion should be every wrestler's goal, and they must all be working towards this. Things like semi-regular contendership bouts, mini-tournaments, and battle royals would help create a hierarchy, as would having the wrestlers re-assert their championship desires on a more regular basis. It'd be a series of small touches, but each would add up to a greater whole, making the belt feel like something to strive for again.
