10 Ways To Make WWE Cool Again

9. Less Lowbrow Humor

One thing that's remained consistent throughout Vince McMahon's tenure running WWE is the frequency of "comedy" that doesn't really amuse anyone other than McMahon himself. Even prior to the Attitude Era, this was commonplace, with angles - such as the exploitation of little people, for instance - ensuring that wrestling fans would be embarrassed when watching the show with their families and friends.

In the Attitude Era, this was no different, though the humor was more blue than it had ever been - just think back to Val Venis. Back then, however, the average age of WWE's fanbase was much younger than it is today. The teenagers who watched Raw weren't likely to complain when Venis announced, "I came, I saw, and I came again."

Today, those fans are all grown up, and the product's PG rating ensures that the lowbrow humor doesn't even have the shock value it used to have. Instead, viewers in their 30s and 40s are watching jokes about farts, disembodied testicles, and bear heads. It's no wonder they're not telling their friends to watch wrestling.
