10 Ways Triple H's WWE Dream Became A Complete Nightmare

8. The Infinity Gauntlet

Fans who follow various social media accounts undoubtedly have seen the ever-evolving image of Triple H wearing an Infinity gauntlet, with various superstars he rehired being added as infinity stones.

To these fans, these returning stars were evidence that Triple H was assembling an empire and taking over the professional wrestling world (oh, and they also mentioned “wrestling” on WWE programming again!).

But let’s look at some of those stars brought back: Within the first two months alone, Dakota Kai, Karrion Kross & Scarlett, Hit Row, Dexter Lumis, Johnny Gargano, Braun Strowman and Candice LeRae all returned to WWE. By year’s end, Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson, Bray Wyatt, Emma, Mia Yim, Tegan Nox and Bronson Reed all showed up as well. That’s to say nothing about the NXT callups and those who return from injury or hiatus.

Each of those shock returns got a nice reaction from fans and generated some excitement, a bit of a buzz. But once the buzz died down… there was nothing. Look at that list. Name one major player in that group. Kai is the only one who’s won a championship since returning to the company.

It’s a very sound argument that Triple H was adding depth to a roster depleted from multiple rounds of cuts in the two years since the pandemic began, but you’ve been given the keys to the biggest sports entertainment company in the world, and this is who you have to show for your big signings and how you’ve used them: to fill out the roster.
