10 Ways Wrestlers' Bodies Changed Forever Because Of Wrestling

7. Abdullah The Butcher's Head

Blading has largely gone the way of the dodo in mainstream professional wrestling.

With intentional bloodletting going out the window when WWE adopted their PG rating in 2008, flashes of colour have become a rarity typically reserved for the biggest names. You'll still find wrestlers slicing their faces for dramatic effect on wrestling's smaller stages, but the vast majority of blood spilt on WWE programming comes via unintentional screw-ups or Brock Lesnar's pointed elbows.

Hardcore wrestling madman Abdullah the Butcher's head is what happens when a wrestler blades too deep and too often. Drawing colour was a huge part of his unpredictable act and if he was going to make a living carving men up with his trademark fork, he'd have to take his fair share of licks himself. Thus, he ended up with a head that looks like a letter rack.

Mick Foley once claimed that the divots in Abby's skin are so deep that the 'Madman from the Sudan' can hold gambling chips in them. Not a great look now that he's 78 years old, but the scars certainly add to the Butcher's mystique.
