WWE's current period has been referred to as both the 'Reality' and 'New' Era, but there's nothing realistic or modern about it. Athletic standards are through the roof, but WWE isn't the world's foremost source of cutting edge professional wrestling, and in terms of storylines, the company feels very much stuck in the '90s at the moment.

The Jason Jordan/Kurt Angle arc has already flopped. It's so daft, forced, and over the top that it wouldn't look out of place in latter day WCW, and while Jordan is a tremendous wrestler, it's clear that he's not going to get over this way. This is what happens when the soap opera spirals out of control, and it's far from the only example.

From goofy stipulations like the House Of Horrors to Jinder Mahal's jingoistic gimmick, the WWE product is full of laughably bad ideas at the moment. Nobody needs to see flag matches and anti-American gimmicks in 2017: these outdated products of a bygone era should've stayed buried in the past, but unfortunately, WWE are so creatively bankrupt that they just can't help coming back to them, despite the audience's constant complaints.
