10 Ways WWE Are Misreading What Their Fans Want From The Product

4. Diluting SmackDown's Women

The SmackDown women's division has suffered greatly in 2017. Once one of the brand's crown jewels, it has been reduced to a series of bland, copy & paste multi-person feuds since the weeks leading up to WrestleMania 33. Forced to share screentime with four or five peers at the same time, SmackDown's women have had their ability to shine greatly diminished, with Charlotte and Becky Lynch the most notable casualties.

Charlotte was one of the company's best heels on Raw, but she is a colourless babyface on Tuesday nights. Becky, meanwhile, was set up as the division's ace after the 2016 draft, but rarely creeps into the spotlight anymore. She still shows trademark fire when called upon, but her progress has been hindered by a paucity of opportunities, and she has become a face in the crowd. These two should be leading the division forward, but they're barely even playing peripheral roles at this point.

It looks like we're finally getting away from the cram now, but regardless, there's a lot of damage to be undone. Fans want to see this talented group's best work, but it's incredibly hard for them to do this in such a crowded spotlight.
