9. CM Punk Should've Defeated Johnny Nitro For The ECW Championship At Vengeance 2007

Who knows if one of the key factors in Chris Benoit's demise was the idea that he was going to be defeated by CM Punk for the ECW Championship in the finals of the tournament for the vacated championship on June 24, 2007. At the show that Benoit "no showed," the then-(ubeknownst to anyone) deceased wrestler's replacement was Johnny Nitro, who won the championship. This set off a series of matches in which Punk himself was not exactly proud, matches that did not need to occur. Punk being able to have intriguing matches with veteran WWE performers in ECW like Kane, The Big Show and Mark Henry could've made for compelling television.
