10 Ways WWE Can Guarantee Royal Rumble 2017 Sell-Out
8. Bring Out The Big Guns
Mystery entrants are a huge part of the Royal Rumble’s appeal, and not knowing who’s going to show-up keeps fans guessing in the lead-up to the event. AJ Styles blew the wrestling world apart with his shock debut in last year’s match, and the likes of Brock Lesnar and Finn Balor make for a great line-up of potential mystery entrants in next year’s.
WWE usually do a great job of keeping these participants under wraps, but there are a couple they might want to advertise ahead of schedule this year. They’ll want to keep a few spots open for surprises, absolutely, but if John Cena and The Undertaker are announced beforehand, WWE can almost guarantee a few thousand extra ticket sales.
The Undertaker returned to SmackDown two weeks ago and warned the blue brand’s main eventers against Survivor Series failure, but his WrestleMania plans remain unclear. Cena, meanwhile, has been operating on a part-time schedule since the summer, but still has that ever elusive 16th world title reign in his crosshairs.
It makes perfect sense for WWE to throw two of their biggest assets into the mix, and that’s exactly what they should do. They can both be eliminated without damaging their reputations too much, and their presence will add a huge jolt of star power to the 2017 Rumble.
