10 Ways WWE Can Guarantee Royal Rumble 2017 Sell-Out

2. Keep Pushing Goldberg

Against all odds, Bill Goldberg has become WWE’s biggest star in 2016. He comes off as the most important person in the company every time he appears, and while that’s a damning indictment of WWE’s inability to build their own stars, Goldberg’s return has been a roaring success. His promos are better than ever, the Lesnar rivalry has made him a star attraction and again, and whatever you think of the Survivor Series finish, it got the wrestling world talking.

Goldberg announced his participation in the 2017 Rumble on Monday night, and it’s a smart move. The fans are really into him at the moment, and WWE’s current situation means they can’t afford to pass-up on his star power. His entrance will be one of the night’s biggest moments, and whether or lasts to the end or gets screwed over by a furious Lesnar, all eyes will be on Goldberg in San Antonio.

WWE don’t have to burn the fans out on Goldberg by having him appear every single week, but his push should endure. The former WCW Champion should continue making sporadic appearances in the lead-up, and should ideally enter as one of the favourites. Have him get involved in confrontations with Raw & SmackDown’s main event stars to build his heat, and if his body’s up to it, let him squash a few midcarders en route to the Rumble.

As unlikely as it seemed a few months ago, Goldberg’s return is the hottest thing going in WWE at the moment. People are excited to see him, and WWE would be wise to keep leaning on his current momentum.
