10 Ways WWE Can Still Salvage WrestleMania 36
WWE has moved WrestleMania to the Performance Center, but how can they salvage the Show of Shows?
WrestleMania was scheduled to take place on 5 April 5 2020, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. However, recent world events mean that WWE's biggest show of the year has now been moved from that grand stage to an empty warehouse: the WWE Performance Center.
WWE has been intent on making it happen, but with strict social distancing measures being enforced (banning gatherings of large groups), the show taking place as planned was always unlikely. Even Disney World has been forced to close its doors in Orlando, and a travel ban in the US means that a huge number of fans would be unable to attend whatever happens.
WWE has been holding RAW, SmackDown, and NXT in an empty Performance Center, and with claims that there was a "contingency plan" in place, holding the Showcase of the Immortals there was seemingly it. It's a pretty dire prospect for the company's biggest event of the year, but there are still ways it can be salvaged.
That's what we take a look at here as we delve into some alternatives WWE could still explore, and how those could ultimately go some way in saving the Show of Shows!
It's a weird time to be a wrestling fan, that's for sure, but WrestleMania will hopefully still brighten up what's proving to be a difficult time for everyone...
10. Hold It In An Empty Stadium
WWE has already hired out the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, and whatever happens now, everyone involved is going to lose money. With that in mind, would it really be so bad for the Show of Shows to take place in the stadium, albeit without an audience?
It would certainly make for a strange sight (especially as at least the first half of WrestleMania will take place in daylight), but if the event is shortened - so, no pointless Battle Royals or last-minute additions to the card - and pushed back a little, lighting could be used to draw attention away from those empty seats.
Whatever happens, the atmosphere won't be the same, but WWE could still deliver a thrilling show with fireworks, memorable entrances, and plenty of surprises.
As we mentioned, this is bound to result in a financial loss, but that's an inevitability now anyway, so why not make the most of this stadium while they have it? After all, fans at home will still enjoy seeing these matches!
