10 Ways WWE Fumbled The Network Launch

2. Announced in 2011, But Not Available Until 2014

All the way back in September of 2011, the original plans for the WWE Network were announcing. Excited fans all over the world were buzzing on what they would watch first and when it would release. WWE continue to grow its buzz and allowed us to create shows and the names for them. The show "Total Divas" was one of these and was originally announced for the Network. They then announced a release date of the 1st of April, 2012. However, following some build up, they stopped mentioning it completely. It seemed Vince and the others in the back got so excited about the idea, they looked to push it out as soon as possible. However, such a big entity cannot work that way. Things take time and that is just what the Network needed. The fumble here isn't the creation of the Network. It is the announcement way before it was ready for the public. While an extreme example, this would be like a scientific company announcing plans of a cancer-fighting drug that would rid people of the disease in 2 month and stated that it will be ready in four months. However, that is impossible. They have to go through events such as drug trials and testing, as well as the proper creation of the drug. This drew negativity, at least in my mind. Why announce something for a release date when it is no where near ready to be release? (Looking at you, Dr Dre) All this did was create a huge amount of buzz that was completely squash with no build up or further information about the Network. The WWE should have just announced the creation and not an actual release date. This would showcase to the fans that a big thing was coming and have us eager to find it upon release.
