10 Ways WWE Has Changed Since Raw 1000

1. Women Are No Longer Divas

WWE's main female champion in July 2012 didn't wrestle at Raw 1000. Instead, Layla appeared in a backstage segment with AJ Lee, Mae Young and some guy dressed to look like the hand Mae had given birth to 12 years prior. Talk about filler - this was scraping the bottom of the barrel for the then-Divas Champ.

Almost six years on from that night, WWE are on the cusp of presenting their first ever female Royal Rumble match and have moved away from the term 'Diva' entirely. Women's wrestling is now on equal footing with the men, and it's about time. Gals like Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss and Asuka being presented as stars rather than eye candy is a definite plus point for the company.

Seeing Lita beat Heath Slater in less than two minutes (after Heath was beaten up by a number of legends) felt cheap by comparison. This wasn't women's wrestling showing it could belong, it was a throwaway segment on Raw 1000 that was played for laughs.

WWE's attitude towards women is one of the biggest and most overdue/positive changes they could make.
