10 Ways WWE Has Failed Seth Rollins As WWE Champion

10. Length Of Title Reign

Had Rollins been champion for just a few months, his shtick wouldn't have had the chance to get old. However, a title reign of more than 200 days needs a degree of variety if it is going to remain entertaining and surprising. Since his first day holding the belt, Rollins has employed precisely the same tactics in order to come out victorious. They were initially compelling, as Rollins found ways to avoid fights and used sneaky tactics to emerge from them with his gold intact, but this novelty soon wore off and there was little joy in watching Rollins' despicable acts over and over again. WWE has, in recent weeks and months, allowed their television ratings to sink or swim on the basis of Rollins as champion. Given that he is unproven as a singles draw with gold around his waist, this has been a reckless move on WWE's part and has left Rollins looking responsible for the falling weekly ratings. It's tough for WWE to become confident in the positioning of new stars as main event performers if they set them up to fail by placing the success of the entire company on their shoulders. Rollins' first reign as champion didn't need to be a long one. In its early days, it was fresh and intriguing. However, time has allowed Rollins' star to fade and left WWE in desperate need of a new man to wear the strap.
