Vince sadly regresses with each performance, and Shane and Stephanie hardly shine, but WWE's traditional response to ratings slumps in recent years has been to flood the broadcast with more McMahon.

In recent years, a random and ill-thought-out appearance from Vince McMahon has been the quick win to arrest a mini decline, with many believing Stephanie McMahon and Triple H's 'Authority' permanence from 2013 onwards was designed to maintain the brief resurgence in numbers Vince had aided shortly before that year's SummerSlam.

Unafraid of accusations of egotism, the McMahon clan even dragged 'Shane-O-Mac' out of the mothballs and back into the family business as an opponent for The Undertaker for WrestleMania 32, highlighting the enhanced glow they believe exists around their own appearances on major shows.

With Vince though, they have some evidence to back this up. Numbers repeatedly trend upwards for his short-term appearances, and though they'd probably drop just as quick if he outstayed his welcome, the potential would at least be there to plant numerous new storyline seeds in an effort to rebuild the cast of thousands that appear without motivation virtually every Monday Night.

Being honest, as he advances in age, opportunities may be running out for Vince to have one last great spell as the Mr. McMahon character he played with such aplomb.
