10 Ways WWE Must Revert To Old Habits To Pop A Rating

5. Live Sex

Salacious? Yes. Indecent? Possibly. A ratings-winner? Absolutely.

As Edge scarpered out of New Years Revolution 2006 with his newly-won WWE Championship, he was so obnoxiously elated that he pledged to have sex with girlfriend Lita live on Monday Night Raw to celebrate his spectacular victory.

Toasting the first ever Money In The Bank cash-in, the promiscuous pair got about as far as cable television would allow before John Cena rushed the ring to chase off the champion, FUing Lita as temporary retribution. It was a different time.

However, 2017 may be the year to return to those halcyon days from over a decade ago. That week's edition of Monday Night Raw produced a 4.3 rating overall, up from the mid-3's WWE had posted for months before. Furthermore, the Live Sex segment itself specifically drew a 5.2, which was a near year-long company high and the sort of number that would have Vince McMahon tearing both quads doing cartwheels over.

Subverting the heel bent Edge and Lita applied to their rendezvous, the skit could even be preserved for babyfaces literally sharing their love with adoring audiences. Relations between Rich Swann and Sasha Banks could evolve beyond the dancefloor, or John Cena could rekindle an old flame with Mickie James, all for the good of that last quarter hour.
