10 Ways WWE SummerSlam 2015 Could've Been Saved

2. A Decisive Finish For Undertaker Vs. Brock Lesnar

It’s the finish that everyone has been complaining about, one that goes even further in ignoring the rules of WWE storytelling and making confusing finishes on the fly. Allegedly, Vince needed Undertaker to win, but couldn’t risk Brock looking weak by losing, and so he booked a dirty finish that had Undertaker win without Brock looking bad.

The problem with this thinking is that at this point, no one ever looks weak from losing to the Undertaker. The mere fact of them being in the ring with the Deadman elevates them to new heights, and whether they defeat him or they get Tombstoned, their careers are (for the most part) better off afterwards. This match, which pitted two bitter rivals against one another, was in dire need of a decisive finish that outlined one clear winner and one loser.

The Undertaker tapping out is a legendary feat in itself, and would’ve done wonders to elevate Brock Lesnar (as if he wasn’t a megastar already), and the actual ending of Lesnar flipping ‘Taker off before passing out would’ve been awesome in itself.

The match did not need a screwy finish brought about by a misplaced referee and an overzealous timekeeper. Had the match ended without replays and confused commentators, the match could’ve gone down as an instant classic between two intense foes who put on an impressive MMA-style match.
