9. The 'Best Of 7' Series Between Chris Benoit And Booker T
In 2005, WWE promoted a 'Best Of 7 Series' between Chris Benoit and Booker T over the WWE United States Title. Unfortunately for Vince McMahon, the company were around 7 years too late. In 1998, WCW booked the initial series, and it remains one of the most fondly remembered group of matches in the promotion's rich history. It's of great credit to Benoit and Booker that every single match, television or Pay-Per-View, is worth watching. Of course, the same could be said of the WWE series to come, but it was originally a WCW idea. There was something utterly magical about watching 2 young wrestlers vying to show the pro wrestling world what they were really all about. Examining the series, it's also baffling that WCW management didn't later attempt to book the match as a main event one. Tussling over the WCW World Title seemed tailor made for both Benoit and Booker, but WCW dropped the ball with both badly. Regardless, this is one series of matches that McMahon must wish he'd thought up, instead of rehashing it in 2005.
