10 Weapon Fails That Totally Ruined Wrestling Matches

1. The Revolution Dud

Hardyz Table Fail
AEW

AEW endured its most humiliating disaster to date at Revolution 2021.

It was, in short, the promotion's big 'WWE' moment. You know the sort.

Hell In A Cell 2019, Super Show-Down 2020, Royal Rumble 2015: a pay-per-view main event so abysmal, embarrassing and unpopular that it is considered the driving force behind abandoning an entire fandom, a farce so dispiriting that one loses all remaining faith in a promotion's ability to do a f*cking thing correctly. The key distinction is that, at Revolution, this wasn't the actual plan. WWE in contrast, several times over no less, booked something definitively atrocious because they actually thought it was a good idea.

The Exploding Barbed Wire Death match itself was outstanding - so tremendous, in fact, that in hindsight fans were probably a little too forgiving of explosions that were just, just passable. The work was too great to let that get in the way. The rope break from the One-Winged Angel triggering an explosion was particularly incredible storytelling: a near-unprecedented escape that conspired to both protect a finisher and prove that the badass babyface could withstand it as sparks erupted in the d*ckhead heel's face.

And then the f*cking dud made Eddie Kingston and Jon Moxley - the last two wrestlers you'd want to look like complete d*cks - look like complete d*cks.
