10 Weird WWE Pairings That Turned Out Surprisingly Well
7. Kane & Rob Van Dam
With RVD's laid back attitude and Kane's monstrous demeanor, they strangely came together as a team during 2002. Kane was actually having his first long term run as a face, so teaming with someone as ubiquitously popular as Rob Van Dam was a smart way of getting Kane over with the crowd. At first Kane would be wary of Rob, and seemed to dislike the fact that someone was being nice to him and wanted to be his friend. Eventually as they teamed up and won more matches, Kane came round to the idea and started to reciprocate RVD's friendship. Their personalities weren't the only mismatched aspect of their tag team, as their in-ring styles were also different. Luckily they seemed to complement each other pretty well however, with Kane's brawling style and RVD's more high-risk, flashy offense creating an interesting dynamic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_C9PeUT90_8 The team bonded so well that they were rewarded with a tag team title run; but it came to an end when Kane turned on RVD after he was unmasked, which he partly blamed on Van Dam.
