Back when Eastern Championship Wrestling was still part of the National Wrestling Alliance, there were subtle hints at the company's Extreme future, such as 1993's Bloodfest.

A supercard held over two nights, Bloodfest was a pivotal night in ECW history, as it saw the debuts of Tommy Dreamer, Taz, and Sabu. None of these young guys featured in the main event though, which was fought between two men in their 50s.

This was a steel cage match for the Television championship with challenger Terry Funk taking on champion Jimmy Snuka. Whilst Funk's career is tightly linked to ECW, Snuka also played a big part in the promotion's history, being the first man to hold what would become the ECW World Heavyweight Championship.

Even so, it's weird to see him in a main event, especially one as bloody and brutal as this one. Funk would get the win and secure the championship and Snuka would leave the company less than a year later, the same month that Paul Heyman took control and reshaped it in his bloodthirsty image.
