10 Weirdest Jobs Wrestlers Had Before They Were Stars

Must be pretty scary having a limo turn up with an invisible driver.

Wrestling isn't exactly the most normal job in the world, is it?

Lads and lasses all over the world happily choose to flip, bump and fall in order to provoke a response out of a live crowd, all while wearing larger than life attire and spouting nonsensical catchphrases.

However, you'll be shocked to hear that wrestling probably ranks as the second weirdest career choice on the list when it comes to this bunch of eventual stars.

After all, not every performer has the luxury of being born into the business and some have to pursue other careers in order to finance their future ambition to be an in-ring worker and more importantly pay the bills. In fact, some future legends didn't even consider a career in the world of wrestling until they'd tried and failed in another line of work earlier in their lives.

Cheerleading for NFL football teams, making sure Bono doesn't get spiked and chasing down criminals on the streets of Punjab are just a few of the ways these now well known wrestling figures brought home the bacon before making a splash on the wrestling scene. Let's dive in...

10. Carmella: Cheerleader

Carmella has carved out quite the career in WWE since taking up pro wrestling as a full-time occupation. She's gone on to win two Money in the Bank ladder matches and has enjoyed reigns as both SmackDown Women's and 24/7 Champion.

However, wrestling wasn't always the plan for the 'Princess of Staten Island' and, before she started working with NXT in 2013, she actually enjoyed a successful career as a cheerleader.

Under her actual name of Leah Van Dale, the eventual WWE superstar appeared as a cheerleader for the NFL's New England Patriots from 2007-2010. Once her time with the now-six time Super Bowl Champions was over, she then auditioned to be a part of the L.A. Lakers dance team and eventually went on to appear as a Laker Girl for the 2010-2011 season. Weirdly enough, she'd actually applied to be a part of 2010's WWE Tough Enough program, but pulled out once she found out she'd been accepted as a Laker Girl.

Along with her successful cheerleading career, Carmella is also a certified fitness instructor and personal trainer.

Carmella clearly put those years of dancing in front of a huge crowd to good use when taking part in her numerous 'dance breaks' with R-Truth during the pairs well-received 'Fabulous Truth partnership throughout 2018-2019.
