10 Weirdest Wrestling Moments That Were SO CLOSE To Happening

7. “Fake” Kane Is The “Real” Kane

Can you imagine the uproar on social media if a doppelgänger version of Finn Bálor's 'Demon' debuted on Raw, attacked the real deal and then replaced Finn from that point on? People would lose their sh*t over something like that. Amazingly, it almost happened to Kane back in 2006.

Drew 'Doc Gallows/Festus' Hankinson was hand-picked for the gig - he debuted in May that year, ambushed the 'Big Red Machine' and then wrestled him at Vengeance in June. WWE put the 'Fake' Kane over the unmasked version, and they even toyed with the thought of revealing that this 'Fake' was actually the real Kane all along.

Yep.

"Kane" would've dropped the inverted commas and supplanted Glenn Jacobs as the masked gimmick for good. It's mad to think that WWE wanted to try something like that in '06, especially considering the fact that Jacobs went on to have more World Title runs years later (and that Hankinson was hardly convincing in the role).
