10 Wildest Wrestling Hoaxes Fans Actually Fell For
1. THAT Angelfire List
Years and years ago, a message thread on the Death Valley Driver Board took on a life of its own.
The aim was to collate as many rumours as possible pertaining to the dark (and quite frankly gross) side of the ring. It was compiled on an Angelfire page, and while there’s no way of determining whether the stories fall under hoax or are actually true, because it’s wrestling, a lot of people were prepared to believe in it regardless.
It reads even more poorly in the wake of Tony Atlas’ comments on the Netflix ‘Mr. McMahon’ docu-series. Atlas stated that the wrestlers of the 1980s “abused the hell out of women”. Openly.
The amount of stories involving faecal matter is revolting and, given just how much sh*t-scented smoke exists, there must be something in the way of fire. Wrestlers talk so much about crapping in bags as a rib that advanced potty training must be the second thing they learn at training school between taking bumps and running the ropes.
It was eventually established, incredibly, that none other than Tony Khan started the thread, back when he was a mere young mega-fan.
