10 Wildly Controversial Wrestling Statements

5. Shawn Michaels Says Bret Hart Has Been Seeing 'Sunny Days'

Throughout 1996 and into 1997, the rivalry between Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels became more and more intense. What had initially started as nothing more than an on-screen feud started to become personal. Writing in his book, Hart says that he and Michaels started out as buddies, but quickly started to clash when it became clear they were shooting it out for the top spot in the WWF. Looking to undermine one another on a weekly basis, both men acted childish during the saga. Unfortunately for Michaels, he didn't cover himself in glory with one statement made on live television. During a promo, HBK said that Bret had been seeing some "Sunny days", which was in reference to the friendship between Hart and WWF Diva, Sunny. For her part, Sunny has declared any rumours of an intimate relationship between Bret and herself as false. During this period, Bret Hart was married, so he didn't take kindly to allegations spewing from the mouth of Shawn Michaels. It's likely his wife, Julie was none too happy either. Shawn knew exactly what he was doing with these comments.
