10 Winning Ideas WWE Should Recycle

8. Focusing On The Match In The Ring

One major gripe a lot of fans have with WWE announcers is that they tend to talk about everything but the match currently going on inside the ring. It's well known that Vince McMahon likes his commentators to tell stories, but this is often at the cost of giving focus to what's actually in front of the viewer. Jim Ross managed to juggle this expertly, both bantering naturally with Jerry Lawler about big main event storylines, but also reacting as a person would to what was directly in front of them. This is something that needs to change, because the current announce set-up isn't really geared towards calling matches. During an epic multi-segment match between Dolph Ziggler and Daniel Bryan, for example, JBL should not be cracking jokes and sharing a laugh with Michael Cole, it just doesn't work. In the original ECW, Joey Styles was admittedly calling everything on his own most of the time, but he put importance on the actual wrestling, which is something WWE need to do a lot more of.
